Good news!

Laura Manuel is on board as Hawaii DOT's first Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Coordinator. She will be serving in an interim capacity until the position is filled. Laura has been with the the DOT for 16 years as a highway safety specialist. She has a background in transportation demand management, coordinating programs like Vanpool Hawaii and the State's ride sharing program.

Laura enjoys photography, walking and sports. Born in Hawaii and raised part of the time in the Islands, she also traveled extensively with family through the military, and graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Sociology.
